This module is the first part of building construction modules. It intends to develop the understanding of the principles and practices of construction technology in relation to site, building components"below ground", foundation, "on ground", floor and staircase, beam and column, wall and opening and "above ground", roof and ceiling.
PROJECT 1 : EXPERIENCING CONSTRUCTION
The objectives of this project are to introduce basic principles and procedures of construction process through real-life project and expose students to construction technology or methods reponding to site context.
In a group of six, we are required to select an ongoing construction project and produce a technical report. We have chosen a site in Bukit Kuda and also in Bandar Rimbayu.
REFLECTION
From this project, I learned how to produce a good quality of ducumentation, analysis and explanation for required sites.
PROJECT 2
This project is designed to allow the demonstration of knowledge and understanding of construction and application from prior projects. One of the aims of this assignment is to develop an awareness and understanding of the strong inter-relationship between these two areas of study. This assignment enable us to develop and demonstrate some knowledge of construction, materials and structural theory in a small scale design project. Our task is to find and analyse the floor plan and section plan on the construction of
a 2-storey or 3-storey residential building and also need to identify and propose of one construction details.
For this project, I selected Origami House, Japan by TSC architects. I chose roof and wall as my construction details.

REFLECTION
Through this project, I managed to demonstrate my understanding and knowledge of construction, material and technology and apply suitable construction elements, material and detail or joint solutions suitable for a specific design.
