ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO 2
This module introduces the principles and methods of analysis, abstraction, and synthesis in design thinking that are common to many design fields, including building and architecture. The key emphasis of the studio is “User and Context”, which investigates the relationship between user and natural environment. Finally, students will design a small freestanding building that meets user requirements and engages with the site context.
PROJECT 1 : Famous Architects, Fabulous Houses – Diagrammatic Abstraction
This project allows us to investigate how spaces are created from the making of architectural elements: architectonics - solid, planes, lines and frames. Upon completion of the assignment students should be able to achieve a level of understanding on the works assigned and will be able to apply the idea and concept in the subsequent project.
In the form of group, we are required to produce a set of architectural drawings (scale of 1:150) and 10 analysis diagrams and 10 diagrammatic models (8 x 8 x 8 cm). The building assigned for us is Sepang House, by architect Eleena Jamil.

REFLECTION
In this project, I have uunderstand basic architectural compositions of solids, planes, lines and frames.
PROJECT 2 : GAZEBO
The aims for this project is to generate structure, form and space through architectural conceptualisation with the emphasis on the user requirement, ergonomics and site responding to develop an architectural proposition.
In the group of four, we are required to design two gazebos, for both active and passive zones.

REFLECTION
In this project, I have learned the importance of using the art of crafting and making drawings and models as a critical design tool as part of the design process.
PROJECT 3 : WEEKEND LODGING
In project 3, we are required to conduct site analysis of the physical context both at a macro & micro level of the overall site. Using the following reference as a framework for our recording and analysis of our site. Then, we are required to design a Weekend Lodging at KL Forest Eco Park.

REFLECTION
This final project allows me to understand the design concept and process. It also allows me to explore the relationship between architectural tectonics, function and space in architecture.
