BUILDING MATERIALS
This module intends to inform the student of the relevant visual and physical properties of a wide range of building materials. It also encompass the board environmental debate by including energy saving and recycled materials. For each material the module describes the manufaturing process, salient properties and typical uses of these materials, with the aim of ensuring their appropriate ecological impact.
PROJECT 1
This project is designed as an introduction to building materials that are commonly used in the construction industry. We are required to choose our choice of architects with theirs buildings that utilize the listed materials. This exercise aims to in helping students to explore and understand the materials in terms of its characters, properties and impacts it give to building designs and its environment.
In a group of seven, we are required to choose any of our favourite architect together with the architect's building as a case study. The building we chose is Case Study House No.8 by Eames House.

REFLECTION
From this project, I learned how to explore and understand the building materials in terms of its characters, properties and its impact to the building design in general.

PROJECT 2
This project introduces us to various types of material that are applied in existing buildings locally response to local contexts such as climate, concept, aesthetics, structure, occupancy and environmental issues. We are also to explore and analyze any significant spaces or area within the building that can create some sense of mood or feeling to the end users of the building.
For this project, we selected Heritage Lane, Soho Empire Damansara, Petaling Jaya. We visited the site for a few times in order to understand the building. For individual task, I chose Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC).

REFLECTION
Through this project, I get to know more uses of the materials. Not only that, I also have the opportunities to understand different types of materials give us different types of feelings to the spaces as well as users.
